Virtual classes during COVID-19 pandemic: focus on university students’ affection, perceptions, and problems in the light of resiliency and self-image

Abstract Although online learning has been studied extensively over the last two decades, students’ feedback toward such classes during COVID-19 pandemic seems essential due to their effects on education systems. The present exploratory sequential mixed methods study aimed address university affection, perception, and problems in courses considering resiliency self-image. A 37-item virtual class Affection Perceptions, Problems, Resiliency, Self-image Questionnaire (APPRSQ) was developed, validated, administered 252 Translation TEFL-major students. results demonstrated that APPRSQ is a valid reliable data gathering instrument. participants’ answers indicated they were resilient could adapt new mode. However, preferred face-to-face classes, though believed inevitable pandemic. Such had some advantages, as enhancing technological knowledge helping them become autonomous. triangulated obtained from interviews with 20 students analyzed. provide further understanding of factors. suggests teachers educational authorities improve quality classes.
